Busway in Jakarta

Recently, busways have become a new addition to the streets of Jakarta. They were enforced with the hopes of minimizing traffic around town. However in my opinion, I believe that this is actually a really bad idea, the reverse effect is all that we have seen so far.

From talking to local drivers, I have heard that the busway is actually owned by a group of people who paid the government in allowing this business. It is not something planned and ran by the government like most of us think.

In addition, the busway proofs to be a nightmare for many people here in Indonesia. By minimizing the amount of lanes that public vehicles can use, it forces the people to wake up earlier so that they won't be late for work or school. I feel that it is such a burden to sit in the car for more the an hour just to go to school, meaning that everyday, I end up wasting two hours of my life just sitting in my car when i can actually be at home doing homework or other productive things. What irritates me the most is that on my way from and to school, i never see a single busway that is used for it's purpose. All i see are a bunch of empty buses, or simply none at all.

Furthermore we are not allowed to use this lane because there are policemen guarding them. Is this really the best solution to our traffic problem? I am sure that the subway lines will be a more productive solution to our traffic problem. Since it does not interrupt the amount of lane used by the public cars.
